The World Cup-Winning Indian Women’s ODI World Cup team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, after beating South Africa in the final at Navi Mumbai.
The team arrived in the national capital on Tuesday night, ahead of their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Also present at the meet-and-greet were head coach Amol Muzumdar and BCCI President Mithun Manhas.
The Indian team presented Prime Minister Modi with a special jersey inscribed with the word ‘NAMO’, an acronym often used to refer to him signed by all the players. The squad was later seen engaging with the Prime Minister, sharing memorable anecdotes from their World Cup final victory over South Africa.
The Prime Minister also mentioned India captain Harmanpreet Kaur collecting the match ball after the final match to which she replied that she felt fortunate it came her way and chose to keep it as a souvenir.
Narendra Modi also mentioned Amanjot Kaur‘s now famous catch the one to dismiss the in-form South African captain Laura Woolvardt, prompting the all-rounder to joke that it was a “fumble I like to watch”.
India secured its maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title with a 52-run victory against South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 2.
