The Narendra Modi Stadium located in Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and it is the largest cricket stadium in the world. Formerly it also known name as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium. It was renamed in February 2021 to honor India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who once served as the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association.

In this stadium spread across 63 acres, this magnificent stadium is a symbol of India’s love for cricket and modern sporting excellence. It is managed by the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and regularly hosts international cricket matches, IPL games and major sporting events.

Narendra Modi Stadium History:

The original stadium at Motera was constructed in 1983 and quickly became a prominent venue for cricket in India. Over the years it hosted several historic moments, including Sunil Gavaskar’s 10,000th Test run and Kapil Dev’s record-breaking 432nd Test wicket.
In 2015, the old structure was demolished to make way for a new world-class stadium. The reconstruction began in the year 2016 and was completed in February 2020 at an estimated cost of 800 crores (USD 100 million).

The redesigned stadium was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind in the year 2021 ahead of the India vs England Test series. Since then, it has hosted multiple high-profile matches, including the IPL finals and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final.

The Narendra Modi Stadium has an unmatched seating capacity of 132,000 spectators, making it the largest stadium in the world by crowd capacity.
