Wankhede Stadium History

The history of Wankhede Stadium dates back to the early 1970’s when disputes between the Cricket Club of India (CCI) and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) over ticket allocations at Brabourne Stadium. This led the Mumbai Cricket Association to build its own stadium in central of South Mumbai. The venue was built in just over a year and hosted its first test match in the year 1975 between India vs West Indies.
