Ruturaj Gaikwad admitted that his bowlers failed to execute their plans properly after the team suffered a five-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings on Friday.
They made impressive 209/5 and the total turned out to be insufficient as the opposition chased it down with more than an over remaining. Gaikwad explained that our playing combination looked well to balanced, but things did not unfold as expected once the match began under the lights. That appeared to be a strong setup before the match start soon lost its shape as the game progressed.

The team’s bowling plans initially looked solid with three pace bowlers and two wrist-spinners selected to control the match middle overs. While there has a few promising spells, inconsistency between those spells allowed Punjab Kings to rebuild the chase. The momentum gradually slipped away at crucial stages with the bowlers unable to consistently hit the right areas under pressure.

Ruturaj said,
“Actually the middle overs slipped out of hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad pointed out that moment changed everything. With move towards target ticking up near 11 and over just two solid spells might have driven it even higher piling on the strain. But CSK failed to seize those frames slowly losing grip. Ayush Mhatre into form with a smooth 73 runs from just 43 deliveries, lighting up Chennai’s innings despite the loss. Shivam Dube added weight to the scoreline to building momentum alongside him. Gaikwad gave credit where it was due and highlighting both knocks.
Shreyas Iyer, captain of Punjab Kings pointed to the sharp beginning as key in their run chase. From the first overs Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh built a solid foundation. Though he added strong pillers to the run chase and Shreyas Iyer continues the match with his fifty. Confidence has grown everyone in the group thinks alike about how they want to play bold, lively cricket.
