She was born on 28 June 1999 in Sokolov, a small town in the north-west of the Czech Republic. Her parents are David Vondrous(father) and Jindriska Anderlova (mother), who was a professional volleyball player for SK Slavia Prague. Vondrousova’s maternal grandfather Frantisek Frk, was the Czechoslovak national pentathlon champion in 1935.
She tried many sports in her early years like skiing, football, table tennis, floorball. Her father introduced her to tennis while she was about 4 years old. Even though her parents divorced when she was around 3 years old, both stayed supportive of her tennis journey. she competed in a national “mini-tennis” tournament on Stvanice island in Prague (2006), where she placed third and this performance qualified her for an international tournament in Umag, Croatia.

At the age of 8 she lost the international event in the first round but won the consolation bracket against mostly older players. She trained regularly at I.CLTK Prague. Part of her early training involved traveling from her hometown to Prague for sessions, sometimes staying overnight also. At the age of 12, she had already won the Nike Junior Tour International Masters in the U.S. an event considered like an unofficial world championship for 12-and-under. At 15 years old, she moved to Prague for full-time more regular, higher-level training.
