Damien Martyn, who the former Australian cricketer who played 67 Test matches and he is reportedly in serious condition at a Brisbane hospital.

The 54-year-old former right-handed batter became ill in recent days and he is reportedly in an induced coma while being treated for meningitis, according to Nine Newspapers.

Martyn’s effortless stroke play was his greatest strength as reflected in his impressive Test batting average of 46.37.

He was Born in Darwin and made his Test debut at just 21. He was replacing Dean Jones during the 1992–93 home series against the West Indies and he went on to captain Western Australia at 23.

Damien played 67 test matches, 208 ODI, 4 T20I and 1 IPL matches.

His high score of 165 runs in test against New Zealand in the year 2005 and totally scored 13 Test centuries. Martyn played his final Test at Adelaide Oval in the year 2006-07 Ashes series before he moving into commentary work.

Martyn played 208 one-day internationals, High score as 144, averaging 40.8 and made 5 100’s.

He was including Australia’s squad that won the 1999 and 2003 World Cup. He scored unbeaten 88 in the final against India in the year 2003 while batting with a broken finger. Damien was also a member of the winning 2006 Champions Trophy squad.
