Australian Open 2024: Aryna Sabalenka demolished Lesia Tsurenko in the Third Round

Defending Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka demolished Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko by 6-0, 6-0 on Friday and entered into the fourth round.

World second seed, Sabalenka who won her maiden Grand Slam last year in Melbourne, she is ready to become the first woman to retain her title.

Aryna Sabalenka said,

“Last year Iga Swiatek won so many sets like 6-0 and this is one of my goals and I’m trying to get closer to her. I am super happy with the level I am playing at so far and hopefully I can keep going like that or even better.”

The 34-year-old Tsurenko had two points to get on the board, but in the second game on her own serve with this Sabalenka slammed the door shut to break once again.

Sabalenka going to face unseeded American Amanda Anisimova in the fourth round. It is Amanda’s first Grand Slam Open and since she is taking an eight-month mental health break.

Sabalenka said of Anisimova,
“I am happy to see her back in this, We have played a lot of matches. We have lots of tough battles and I am looking forward to a great battle.”
