Chennai Super Kings are expected to release former skipper Ravindra Jadeja who started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals. Notably, both Jadeja and Samson had been retained by their franchises before the previous mega auction.

It is understood that Rajasthan Royals have requested the inclusion of one more player in the trade deal to release Sanju Samson.

After finishing at the bottom of the standings in the 2025 season, which they won just four games. The Super Kings are expected to make significant changes to their squad for the upcoming year.

CSK five time Champion

The five-time champion CSK’s main issue was a lack of firepower in its batting unit and they getting Samson is a key piece of the puzzle to solve their issue.

However, it is best and understood that the Royals have asked for an additional player as part of the deal to release Samson.

While Chennai Super Kings first preference is a straight swap between the two players and both are valued in the Rs.18-crore bracket, the five-time champion has not ruled out including another player in their trade.

Jadeja made his mark in the first-ever IPL season in 2008, where he was instrumental in helping Rajasthan Royals secure the title.

The all-rounder has joined CSK in the year 2012 for USD 2 million and has played a key role in the Men in Yellow’s triumphs in 2018, 2021. He is famously in 2023 while he scored 10 off the last two deliveries against the Gujarat Titans in the final match.

Samson has joined Rajasthan Royals in the year 2013 and remained there until 2015, before returning in 2018 after a two-year stint with Delhi Capitals. He has been the skipper since 2021 year and led the side to the finals in 2022.
