Madrid Open 2024 : The WTA World number one Iga Swiatek enters third round after beating Chinese Wang Xiyu by 6-1, 6-4 on Thursday, this bids to win the competition for the first time.
Before that Coco Gauff easily won her match against Arantxa Rus with a score of 6-0, 6-0 and moved to the third round. Russian Liudmila Samsonova beat Japanese Naomi Osaka after playing three sets.
The 2023 year Runner-up, Iga Swiatek bounced back from her semi-final after defeat by Elena Rybakina in the Stuttgart with a straight sets victory.
The 22-year-old Polish player, who has won four Grand Slam tournaments and she is very skilled on clay courts. She struggled a bit in the second set while Wang won three games in a row. After that she managed to regain her composure and won the match in one hour and sixteen minutes.

World No.1 Swiatek said,
“I love this place and I got to know the city a little better last year. So this time I feel more comfortable around here.”
Atfirst Iga breezed through the first set after breaking Wang’s serve twice to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Wang Xiyu unable to handle her powerful backhand shots and she lost the match also.
