Former Indian Cricketer and Indian cricket board chief Sourav Ganguly wished for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to open India’s innings in the T20 World Cup.
The Indian Cricket national selection panel is likely to pick India’s team squad for the T20 World Cup over the weekend, ahead of the squad submission deadline on May 1.

Ganguly, the Delhi Capitals director of cricket said,
“I feel both players should go to the West Indies. It is just my personal opinion and I am not able to say that the selectors should do it. It’s their call at the end of the day, but I think Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should open.”
“I hope Rahul and Rohit find a better method of playing T20 cricket because this combination group has an exceptional talent that six-hitting ability.”

The 51-year-old Saurav Ganguly was confident both had the ability to deliver good cricket.
During 2024 IPL season, Rohit and Kohli’s ability to keep hitting better higher gears in T20 Cricket has been questioned by a section of fans and experts.
“The right-handed batsman Virat Kohli has got the capability of getting a 40-ball hundred also.”
“We all know well how Rohit Sharma battered in the 50-over World Cup. He can able to came and hit at the top position, so we just put so much pressure on the opponent team in the first seven-eight overs. Virat and Rohit should do the same the T20s. They both are greatest players.”
