Daniil Medvedev endured the most shocking defeats of his career as he suffered a humbling 6-0, 6-0 loss against Matteo Berrettini at the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday.
In this stunning defeat marked the world No.10’s first-ever tour-level loss without winning a single game. The match lasted just 49 minutes with Medvedev unable to create any back momentum on serve and he failing to earn even a single game point in his own service games.

He clearly frustrated by the one-sided contest, the Russian smashed his racket multiple times before throwing the broken pieces into a courtside dustbin.
Despite winning titles earlier this season in Dubai and Brisbane, Medvedev struggled badly throughout the match and finishing with 27 unforced errors.
For Italian Matteo Berrettini, the victory was historic in his Tennis carrier. It was the first time in his tour-level career that he had won a match by a double bagel (6-0, 6-0). The 29-year-old Italian also recorded his first win over a top-10 opponent since defeating Alexander Zverev at Monte Carlo last season.

Matteo Berrettini said,
“I think it was one of the best performances in my life.”
“I think I missed three shots in the entire match and it is not easy against a tricky player like Medvedev. The game plan was perfect and my weapons were working fine.”
Medvedev’s emotional outburst has once again sparked debate around how tennis players deal with on-court frustration while playing. Recently, World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka supported the idea of dedicated “rage rooms” where players can release their emotions away from television cameras.
The discussion gained traction after Coco Gauff‘s racket-smashing moment at the Australian Open, where the American later admitted she did not realize the incident was being broadcast globally.
