Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has signed a new contract extension running until 2029, the Spanish champions announced on Wednesday via social media.
The 28-year-old Dutch international joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 and he is currently in his seventh season with the Catalan giants having won two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies.
Although De Jong has experienced dips in form at times, he emerged as a key figure in the midfield under Hansi Flick last season playing alongside Pedri Gonzalez.

Having arrived under former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, De Jong is among the club’s highest earners. According to Spanish media he has agreed to a salary reduction in his new contract which will take effect from the 2026/27 season.
