Neymar Makes Stunning Brazil Return For World Cup 2026

Brazil’s all-time leading scorer Neymar has been named in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, coach Carlo Ancelotti selecting the forward for the first time since taking charge.

The 34-year-old Neymar earned a place in Brazil’s squad after battling fitness issues following a serious ACL injury suffered in the year Oct 2023.

Neymar remains Brazil’s highest-ever goal scorer with 79 international goals in history.

The 26-man squad also includes key stars Vinicius Junior and Raphinha, both of whom were widely expected to be selected in the World Cup Squad.

Carlo Ancelotti, who became Brazil’s head coach in the year May 2025 had previously not called up Neymar before Monday’s announcement. Carlo recently extended his contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation through to the 2030 World Cup.

However, more player injuries have continued to trouble Brazil’s preparations with attacking talents Rodrygo and Estevao among the notable absentees for the tournament in North America.
