Germany has chosen Christian Wuck as the new coach for its women’s national football team. However, he will officially start his role after the Olympics later this year.
Wuck gained recognition for coaching the German men’s Under-17 team to European and World Cup victories last year. In thrilling finals, Germany triumphed over France in penalty shootouts for both championships.

He is set to succeed the 72-year-old Horst Hrubesch, who temporarily led the team last year following a surprising World Cup group-stage exit under the management of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg.
Germany secured qualification for the Paris Olympic tournament last month with a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the Nations League third-place playoff. Hrubesch will remain in charge until the end of the tournament.
Germany is set to make its first women’s football Olympic appearance since winning the gold medal in 2016.
