Italian Open 2024 : Indo-Aus pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden bowed out from the ATP Italian Open 2024 pre-quarterfinal loss against Italian pair Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori.
On Tuesday, the second-seeded pair suffered by 2-6, 4-6 defeat in a one-hour and thirteen-minute match. Bopanna-Ebden pair had defeated Italian pair Matteo Arnaldi and Francesco Passaro in their opening round clash.

The India-Aus duo also surrendered the early advantage and committing two double faults.
Bopanna and Ebden faced disappointment as they were broken twice in the opening set. Their opponent pair, however did not yield a single break point opportunity in the first set.
In the second set also, Bopanna and Ebden found themselves on the defensive, conceding three breaks. While they did secure two breaks against their rivals Bolelli and Vavassori, Bopanna and Ebden ultimately found themselves outmatched.

In this loss extends their recent string of poor performances, which notably featured a first-round exit from the Madrid Masters earlier in this month.
Their triumph at the Indian Wells Masters last year marked a significant milestone, with the 43-year-old Indian becoming the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion in history.

Rohan Bopanna also achieved the distinction of becoming the oldest world number one in doubles following his victory at the Australian Open in January.
