Lionel Messi delivered his best masterclass for Argentina yet again and a hat-trick and providing two assists in a dominant victory over Bolivia in South American FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifers.
Messi said after the game,
“It is a great feeling to play here and experience the love from the Argentina fans. It makes me emotional to listen how they shout my name while playing. We all really enjoy this connection with the fans and we love playing at home.”

In this hat-trick, which is his 10th for the national team, puts Messi level with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo for the most career trebles in international football. The 37-year-old Argentine is also the second highest goalscorer in men’s international football with 112 goals.
While asked about his future he said,
“I didn’t set any date or deadline about my future and I am just enjoying all this. I am getting more emotional than ever and taking all the love from the people because I know these can be my last games.”
“It is a joyful moment to be present and appreciate this moment. While play surrounded by younger teammates, given my age,it makes me feel like a kid again.”
