Indian Cricket board’s decision to select four spinners in the T20 World Cup 15-member squad. Captain Rohit Sharma expressed his preference for selecting four spinners, citing undisclosed reasons.

India’s provisional team squad featured with four spinners, it including Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, despite having only three slots reserved for specialist fast bowlers.

While three of them had been in consideration for some time, But Chahal was absent from India’s T20 team squads against South Africa and Afghanistan. It is notable performance in the ongoing IPL secured him a place in the squad.

Rohit said,

“Certainly, during my initial press conference upon arrival, I might give more details. The reason for four spinners of my decision is, which am not able to say in public.”

“But I should want four spinners for sure, two of the spinners being all-rounders like Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Remaining two attacking spinners like Kuldeep and Chahal.”

“In this gives us the balance in the spin department. Based on the team composition of the team opposition we can easily decide what we want to play with at that time.”

“Axar Patel was in good form and when he played those five matches against Australia team. If we want to do something different he has been bowling well and gives us that left handed option in the middle stage.”
