Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the first Ashes Test against England, Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Saturday.

He left New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield clash against Victoria at the SCG on Wednesday to undergo tests on a hamstring niggle.

Cricket Australia said,

“Initial scans on Wednesday were clear of muscle strain however, follow-up imaging today has confirmed his injury.

“As of now, Hazlewood will not travel to Perth and has been ruled out of the first Ashes Test match.”

Hazlewood’s absence is a major setback for Australia, who are already without captain Pat Cummins for the first Test, scheduled on November 21 in Perth.

Michael Neser has been added to the first Test squad as cover for both Hazlewood & Sean Abbott also sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The 5 test Ashes 2025-26 which is starts on 21 Nov 2025 – 08 Jan 2026.
