Germany secured its spot at next year’s FIFA World Cup with a dominant 6-0 win over Slovakia in Monday’s final qualifier.

Slovakia, victorious in Bratislava in September was completely outplayed as the hosts applied relentless pressure throughout.
The four-time world champions, eliminated in the first round of the previous two World Cups secured first place in the group with 15 points with Slovakia trailing in second on 12.

Germany needed only a draw to seal first place but started with full intent. Nick Woltemade, completely unmarked scored with a header in the 18th minute—his fourth goal in three games.
Gnabry had a chance to make it 2–0 in the 25th minute after bursting into the box, but his low strike was blocked by Martin Dubravka. He made up for it just four minutes later, converting a superb through-ball from Leon Goretzka for Germany’s second.
Another swift move saw Florian Wirtz send Leroy Sane through in the 36th minute, allowing him to curl his shot past Dubravka and all but seal the win. Five minutes later Wirtz provided yet another assist for Sane, who completed his brace.
Striker Woltemade said,
“We played a really well good game tonight. From the first to the last second, we did not allow anything at the back and were creative. I hope it was fun to watch us tonight and It is great to play for Germany. We have now qualified for the World Cup 2016.”
The game slowed in the second half, but goals from Ridle Baku and 19-year-old debutant Assan Ouedraogo capped the rout, with Ouedraogo setting a record as Germany’s youngest scorer.
