India squad T20 World Cup 2026 has been announced and here is the complete list of players, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team.
The BCCI announced India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for next year on Saturday.
Major surprise is the Opener Shubman Gill has been left out of the Indian cricket team picked for the T20 World Cup 2026. Suryakumar Yadav continues as the role of India T20 captain of the team, Axar Patel stepping up as his deputy in absence of Gill.
Gill, India’s captain in the ODI and Test cricket and Suryakumar Yadav take over the shortest format, has been battling with fitness issues recently. Sanju Samson, who had lost his opening spot because of Gill in the Indian playing XI, however himself favored as Abhishek Sharma’s partner up the order.

Samson have competition from the returning of Ishan Kishan, who has earned a call back to the national setup after almost two years. He recently becoming the top run scorer at the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, leading Jharkhand to their maiden SMAT title.
Ishan Kishan, who is a wicket-keeper and aggressive opener like Samson, he last played for India in 2023.
Tilak Varma is also in the better form and included in the squad along with bowling aces Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy.
The defending champions India will also be the co-hosts of the upcoming edition along with Sri Lanka. India Cricket team are in Group A with Pakistan, USA, the Netherlands and Namibia. They will open their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against the USA in Mumbai on February 7.
The most expecting India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled for February 15 at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
