Miami Open 2026: Italian Jannik Sinner fought back in the second set against American Alex Michelsen by 7-5 , 7-6(4) victory and reach the 2026 quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Jannik Sinner advanced to his 20th Masters quarterfinal and still keeping his hopes alive for a rare “Sunshine Double” after winning the Indian Wells Open 2026 earlier this month. Still extending his world record run of consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events.

Sinner narrowly secured the opening set before encountering a tougher challenge in the second set, where he fell behind 2–5 as Alex Michelsen elevated his performance from the baseline.

The Italian staged a strong comeback to force a tiebreak, which he won to preserve his unbeaten record against the American Michelson and extend his remarkable streak of 28 consecutive straight-set victories at the Masters 1000 level.
Jannik Sinner said,
“I felt like the serve helped me quite a lot today and especially in important moments and in the tiebreak, so I am really happy about that.”
“I know that if I want to go far in this Miami Open tournament, I have to improve from the back of the court. Tomorrow is a day off, which helps me and I will try to find good rhythm in the court practice session. Then we will see how things go on that day.”
At 24, he has the chance to become the first player since Roger Federer in 2017 to capture both U.S. hard-court Masters titles in a single season.
