Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton won the Canadian Open 2025 quarterfinals on Tuesday and setting up the first all-American semifinal at an ATP Masters 1000 event in 15 years.
American Taylor Fritz beat No.11 seed Andrey Rublev by 6-3, 7-6 (4) in the Canadian Open 2025 quarterfinals. He hit 20 aces, it including one that finished off the match.

Another Quarterfinal match Ben Shelton, the No.7 seed beat No.8 Alex de Minaur of Australia by 6-3, 6-4. The 22-year-old reached the semifinals of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time.
The upcoming match on Thursday between Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton will be the first time since Andy Roddick beat Mardy Fish at Cincinnati in 2010, which is that two Americans have met in an ATP Masters 1000 semifinal.
The other semi-final on Thursday between top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany with World No.16 Russian Karen Khachanov.
Fritz came out strong in hazy, breezy conditions with firing three aces to win the opening game and breaking Rublev while winning the match’s first eight points.
The 27-year-old American Taylor Fritz, who sits fourth in the ATP Tour rankings and lost last year’s U.S. Open final to No. 1 Jannik Sinner, fired two more aces to go up 4-1 before serving out the set.
Fritz, who lost to World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon semifinals is competing in a Canadian Open field missing several top stars.
