Daryl Mitchell overtakes Virat Kohli to claim the No.1 spot in the latest ICC 2026 ODI batting rankings updated.

Daryl Mitchell replaced Virat Kohli as the No.1 ODI batter in the latest ICC rankings after playing a key role in New Zealand’s historic 2–1 series win in India.

Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (764 points) moved ahead of Rohit Sharma (757 points) to claim third place after Rohit managed just 61 runs across three innings against New Zealand.

Latest ICC ODI Ranking Updated:

The 34-year-old Mitchell scored 84, 131 not out, and 137, finishing the series with 352 runs. This is the highest tally by a New Zealand batter in a three-match ODI series and the third-highest overall. Behind this Pakistan’s Babar Azam and India’s Shubman Gill, who both scored 360 runs.

After losing the opening match in Vadodara by four wickets, New Zealand bounced back with a seven-wicket win in Rajkot to level the series. Before sealing a historic 41-run victory over India in the decider at Indore.

Virat Kohli scored 240 runs in three innings highlighted by an impressive 124 off 108 balls in the final ODI, which came in a losing cause.

While Kohli has 795 rating points, Mitchell is 50 points ahead and has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings for the second time in his career. His previous stint at the top lasted just three days last November before he was overtaken by Rohit Sharma.

India’s KL Rahul climbed to 10th in the latest ICC ODI rankings after scoring 142 runs in the series, including a match-winning unbeaten 112 in Rajkot, replacing Shreyas Iyer.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips climbed 16 places to 20th in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings after his 88-ball 106 and a crucial 219-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell in Indore. He also gained 14 spots to reach joint 31st in the all-rounder rankings.
